Содержит примитивные средства редактирования, обработки числовых величин, строковых переменных и наборы процедур простого манипулирования символьными цепочками. Наличие многочисленных диалектов языка затрудняет мобильность программ на Бейсике. Спецификация ANSI послужила основой ГОСТ 27787 – 88 на язык Бейсик (для ПЭВМ).
